Walpurgis Night

Walpurgis Night is a holiday celebrated on April 30 or May 1, in large parts of Central and Northern Europe.[1]

Historically the Walpurgisnacht is derived from Pagan spring customs. In the Norse tradition, Walpurgisnacht is considered the "Enclosure of the Fallen".[4] It commemorates the time when Odin died to retrieve the knowledge of the runes, and the night is said to be a time of weakness between the living and the dead. Bonfires were built to keep away the dead and chaotic spirits that were said to walk among the living then.[5] This is followed by the return of light and the sun as celebrated during May Day. Due to Walpurga's holy day falling on the same day, her name became associated with the celebrations. Early Christianity had a policy of 'Christianising' pagan festivals so it is no accident that St. Walpurga's day was set to May 1st. Walpurga was honored in the same way that Vikings had celebrated spring and as they spread throughout Europe, the two dates became mixed together and created the Walpurgis Night celebration.

Walpurgis (sw: Valborgsmässoafton or Valborg) is one of the main holidays during the year in Sweden, alongside Christmas and Midsummer holiday. The forms of celebration in Sweden vary in different parts of the country and between different cities. One of the main traditions in Sweden is to light large bonfires, a custom which is most firmly established in Svealand, and which began in Uppland during the 18th century. An older tradition from Southern Sweden was for the younger people to collect greenery and branches from the woods at twilight, which were used to adorn the houses of the village. The expected reward for this task is to be paid in eggs.

The tradition which is most widespread throughout the country is probably singing songs of spring. Most of the songs are from the 19th century and were spread by students' spring festivities. The strongest and most traditional spring festivities are also found in the old university cities, like Uppsala and Lund where both current and graduated students gather at events that take up most of the day from early morning to late night on April 30, or "sista April" ("The last day of April") as it is called in Lund and elsewhere throughout the country. There are also newer student traditions like the carnival parade, The Cortège, which has been held since 1909 by the students at Chalmers in Gothenburg.

Fritiof in Arcadia

On Colla Bella's heights, where goats are bounding
And pine-trees thinly shade the yellow sand,
There is a grassy glade, with palms surrounding
And gently sloping to the vine-clad strand.
There one sees Corsica in clearer weather
And distant provinces in azure rows:
There one can smell the clover and the heather,
And one can wander lightly as a feather
Up in the mountain, without any clothes.

I rambled nude and happy there one morning:
I'd come from Gothenburg across the seas.
A fig-leaf wreath my body was adorning,
And in a box I carried bread and cheese.
It was a lovely day: above me singing
I heard the little nightingale so rare:
Just like a bird set free from prison winging,
I gamboled gaily, back to Nature springing,
For I would lie upon Earth's bosom fair.

The goats and sheep were leaping all around me:
Like little clouds they looked, so white and small.
I felt the nightingale's sweet song surround me –
I was a part of all this pastoral!
But in a while, about my dinner thinking,
Upon the grass I sat to taste my fare:
My wine I opened and I soon was drinking,
But when my head I turned I started blinking –
I saw a naked maiden smiling there!

In all my life I'd seen such beauty never!
She came and stood quite near me on the green,
And then before I got my wits together
Two other lovely maids came on the scene.
They laughed and frolicked there without chemises
And sang: "Oh, happy days are here again!"
Then up I sprang, forgetting wine and cheeses!
I tossed my fig-leaf girdle to the breezes!
The maidens ran while I pursued in vain.

But in the evening I was in the city,
And there again I met the lovely three,
And they were clad in dresses white and pretty,
As sweet three graces as a man could see.
But one so boldly took me by the hand then,
And said "I'm leaving on an early train".
We walked beneath the palms along the strand, then:
We talked and drew some pictures in the sand, then,
And sang: "Oh, happy days are here again!"

"I come from San Francisco," said the maiden,
"That's why I like to climb about the hills.
I like to frolic without clothing laden,
For I love Nature without fuss or frills.
Yes, in America we're far more clever,
While here in Europe you are more mondaine!
But you and I are much the same, however –
Oh let us wander side by side forever!
Oh, darling, happy days are here again!"

Muslim call to adopt Mecca time

A very respectful tip of the turban to Anticant for this.

Muslim scientists and clerics have called for the adoption of Mecca time to replace GMT, arguing that the Saudi city is the true centre of the Earth.

Mecca is the direction all Muslims face when they perform their daily prayers.

The call was issued at a conference held in the Gulf state of Qatar under the title: Mecca, the Centre of the Earth, Theory and Practice.

One geologist argued that unlike other longitudes, Mecca's was in perfect alignment to magnetic north.

He said the English had imposed GMT on the rest of the world by force when Britain was a big colonial power, and it was about time that changed.

Mecca watch

A prominent cleric, Sheikh Youssef al-Qaradawy, said modern science had at last provided evidence that Mecca was the true centre of the Earth; proof, he said, of the greatness of the Muslim "qibla" - the Arabic word for the direction Muslims turn to when they pray.

The meeting also reviewed what has been described as a Mecca watch, the brainchild of a French Muslim.

The watch is said to rotate anti-clockwise and is supposed to help Muslims determine the direction of Mecca from any point on Earth.

The meeting in Qatar is part of a popular trend in some Muslim societies of seeking to find Koranic precedents for modern science.

It is called "Ijaz al-Koran", which roughly translates as the "miraculous nature of the holy text".

The underlying belief is that scientific truths were also revealed in the Muslim holy book, and it is the work of scholars to unearth and publicise the textual evidence.

But the movement is not without its critics, who say that the notion that modern science was revealed in the Koran confuses spiritual truth, which is constant, and empirical truth, which depends on the state of science at any given point in time.

Ahh, this reminds me of "the first muslim in space". 15 sunrises every 24 hours. Five prayers a day means 75 prayers against mecca. Attach him to a generator while he is revolving and you can get rid of the solar panels... Islam at work for a change!

"One "geologist" argued that unlike other longitudes, mecca's was in perfect alignement to magnetic north"

Well- shit for brains- Here is a news flash for you! Every spot on earth are in perfect alignement with the magnetic north! That is because we live on a globe! Also the magnetic north interchanges with the magnetic south every milion years or so! Does mecca move? The planetary axis movement will mean that my hometown will not be over the arctic circle in a 100 000 years. Take a long look at what you just picked out of your nose- and do not eat it (as I suppose you usually do).

Strike!

The Swedish nurses has gone on strike for higher salaries. A friend of mine who is reading for a nurse degree (bizzarily enough, it's an university degree nowdays). Told me that she thought that nurses are underpaid.

I said that. Yes. I think that nurses are underpaid. But so are also Polices and Firefighters (they are all state employed). Have you ever wondered why they never go on strike for more money? It is because they can't! They are not allowed to! Neither can doctors, military people or even frigging petrol station employees. The mean salary for a nurse is around 22 000Kr per month and the end salary is 28-29 000 Kr per month. That is allready more than what polices, military personel and petrol station employees earn. And they want more!

But yes, the nurses are under payed. Atleast on an international scale. A nurse in the USA earns about as much as a Swedish doctor do- and pays less in taxes. But why is it so? I asked. Well dear, as it happens you are employed in the public sector (we have almost no private healthcare here). I on the other hand are employed in the private sector (as the majority of the nurses in the USA are). And it is me who pays your salary! Not only that. Every employee in the private sector has to pay for an average of 1.7 people in the public sector! To do this, we have to pay taxes- a lot of taxes. This also means that we have to earn a heck of a lot of money to do so.

While I have every bit of respect for nurses as per se. I hate when they go whining about not getting paid enough. Do you want to earn more money? Then get a job in the frigging private sector! It's like- Cut your hair and get a job!

The other way

Today I had a new encounter with the Somali father I have written about earlier, at the kindergarten. I have no clue about his name. This time he actually greeted me... But not exactly with a smile on his face- Hmmmm!

He is very smartly dressed. He weares shoes that I can't afford! He also drives around in a brand new minivan.

Oh!- He does not talk any Swedish or English...

He has a vife in the usual tent-and-hijab-style, that the few times I've seen her walks three steps behind her husband, looking down at the pavement.

To my surprise, acouple of days ago I met her in the kids dressing room alone! She actually took eye contact with me, smiled and said hello (in Swedish).

While we were undressing our kids we had a conversation of this and that. After the usual politenesses I asked her:

- So, what do you do for a living?

She missunderstood the question and said:

- I have an university degree in echonomics.

-Oh, I said- but where do you work?

- Oh no, she laughed. I don't work. I'm married!

- Ahh, I said. But your husband. What does he do?

- He is a craftsman, she replied.

- And where does he work? I asked, knowing allready what she would say...

- No, he does not have any work. It is very hard to find jobs if you do not know Swedish. (What a surprise).

-Oh, by the way. How long have you been in Sweden? I asked.

- Three years. Was her reply.

(This is factual events.)

Think about this for a minute or two!

Things that tick me off (Part II)

8. People who press the pass by thingy at streets and then still go against a red light/no cross over/no walk light.

9. People who have to shoot bears (always hunters) because they are "attacking" them. (I have stayed more than a thousand nights in the woods here in sweden, and I only have encountered a bear once- and it was running for it's life because it was so frightened of me...).

10. People that think it's a great idea to stand chatting in front of escalators, at the end of escalators or generally in entrances or other places where people have to pass through.

11. Girls that flashes their boobs willingly in the sauna or at the beach but will throw a brick in your face if you catch a glimpse of a nipple otherwise.

12. Echological idiots as my old high school teatcher Peter Ericsson (the head honco for the greens here in Sweden). He is a nice enough guy generally but the worst hypochrate when it comes to environmental issues you can think of- well maybe with the exception of Al Gore that is!

13. People that think that "Bio Fuel" actually is positive for the environment- HEH!

14. .....Well idiots really! Hmmm lesse if I can come up with more things that tick me off (there are hundreds, I just don't have the time right now.

What Islam Isn't
By Dr. Peter Hammond
FrontPageMagazine.com Monday, April 21, 2008

The following is adapted from Dr. Peter Hammond's book: Slavery, Terrorism and Islam: The Historical Roots and Contemporary Threat:

Islam is not a religion nor is it a cult. It is a complete system.

Islam has religious, legal, political, economic and military components. The religious component is a beard for all the other components.

Islamization occurs when there are sufficient Muslims in a country to agitate for their so-called 'religious rights.'

When politically correct and culturally diverse societies agree to 'the reasonable' Muslim demands for their 'religious rights,' they also get the other components under the table. Here's how it works (percentages source CIA: The World Fact Book (2007)).

As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness:

United States -- Muslim 1.0%
Australia -- Muslim 1.5%
Canada -- Muslim 1.9%
China -- Muslim 1%-2%
Italy -- Muslim 1.5%
Norway -- Muslim 1.8%

At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs:

Denmark -- Muslim 2%
Germany -- Muslim 3.7%
United Kingdom -- Muslim 2.7%
Spain -- Muslim 4%
Thailand -- Muslim 4.6%

From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population.

They will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves -- along with threats for failure to comply. ( United States ).

France -- Muslim 8%
Philippines -- Muslim 5%
Sweden -- Muslim 5%
Switzerland -- Muslim 4.3%
The Netherlands -- Muslim 5.5%
Trinidad &Tobago -- Muslim 5.8%

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islam is not to convert the world but to establish Sharia law over the entire world.

When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions ( Paris --car-burnings). Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats ( Amsterdam - Mohammed cartoons).

Guyana -- Muslim 10%
India -- Muslim 13.4%
Israel -- Muslim 16%
Kenya -- Muslim 10%
Russia -- Muslim 10-15%

After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning:
Ethiopia -- Muslim 32.8%

At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare:

Bosnia -- Muslim 40%
Chad -- Muslim 53.1%
Lebanon -- Muslim 59.7%

From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels:

Albania -- Muslim 70%
Malaysia -- Muslim 60.4%
Qatar -- Muslim 77.5%
Sudan -- Muslim 70%

After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide:

Bangladesh -- Muslim 83%
Egypt -- Muslim 90%
Gaza -- Muslim 98.7%
Indonesia -- Muslim 86.1%
Iran -- Muslim 98%
Iraq -- Muslim 97%
Jordan -- Muslim 92%
Morocco -- Muslim 98.7%
Pakistan -- Muslim 97%
Palestine -- Muslim 99%
Syria -- Muslim 90%
Tajikistan -- Muslim 90%
Turkey -- Muslim 99.8%
United Arab Emirates -- Muslim 96%

100% will usher in the peace of 'Dar-es-Salaam' -- the Islamic House of Peace -- there's supposed to be peace because everybody is a Muslim:

Afghanistan -- Muslim 100%
Saudi Arabia -- Muslim 100%
Somalia -- Muslim 100%
Yemen -- Muslim 99.9%

Of course, that's not the case. To satisfy their blood lust, Muslims then start killing each other for a variety of reasons.

'Before I was nine I had learned the basic canon of Arab life. It was me against my brother; me and my brother against our father; my family against my cousins and the clan; the clan against the tribe; and the tribe against the world and all of us against the infidel. – Leon Uris, 'The Haj'

It is good to remember that in many, many countries, such as France, the Muslim populations are centered around ghettos based on their ethnicity. Muslims do not integrate into the community at large. Therefore, they exercise more power than their national average would indicate.

There's a new law in Maine

a person who, for the purpose of arousing or gratifying sexual desire, intentionally engages in visual surveillance, aided or unaided by mechanical or electronic equipment, of the uncovered breasts, buttocks, genitals, anus or pubic area of another person is guilty of visual sexual aggression regardless of where the surveillance occurs. Surveillance may occur either in a public or private place.

So now it's criminal to look at a pair of breasts or at someone that walks without trousers.

From HAX

I have a couple of photos from playa de la Americas over at Teneriffe with bare breasted women in the background. So if I post them I could be liable as doing a criminal act in Maine? Hmmmm!

Things that tick me off

Inspired by this post over at Planck's Constant.

1. People who walks slow. If you are a geriatric, it's understandeble. But do not!!! Walk in the middle of the side walk... And if you are not geriatric- or handicapped, you are just stupid!

2. People who walk in the streets. Just because that you are in the middle of the city; it does not mean that you freely can walk at the streets, especially not when there are perfectly good side walks!

3. People that does not look when they pass a street. I can not count how many times I have had to stop with a screeching halt only because some idiot steps out in the street without looking. Just because the regulations and laws say that I have to let a pedestrian pass by, does not mean that they will get less hurt if I smash in to them.

4. People who make a diagonal passing of a street- 'nuff said.

5. People who insists on having dogs and cats in the inner city core. The animals do not fare well, and I find myself having my son playing in the playground where multple cats have used it as their personal litter box. And then there's the idiots that do not pick up the dog shit after making buissness.

6. People that gives me text messages telling me they are outside my door!

7. People placing out frozen reindeer bodies in a sharp turn with one hoof on the road (standing up in a snow drift).

Aaaaahhh! There are so many more. But I'm in a hurry!

Housing reforms stoke debate

A new government report has suggested controversial changes to the rules governing residential rental properties in Sweden.

Among other things, the report suggests that supply and demand play a role in setting rents in Sweden, and that public municipal housing companies shouldn’t have control over the rents set by private housing companies.

Market rated rents should be the obvious way to go. Today an apartement in the suburbs cost's as much as the more atractive apartements in the inner city. This is one of the last bastions of the social democracy that has to fall!

Public pool bars father and son from its 'Muslim-only' swimming session

I don't know if you should laugh or if you should crie...

A father and his five-year-old son were turned away from their local swimming pool because they were the wrong religion.

David Toube, 39, and his son Harry were told that the Sunday morning session was reserved for Muslim men only.

Hackney Council, which runs the Clissold Leisure Centre in Stoke Newington, north London, claimed staff there had made a mistake.

However, the Muslim-only session was advertised on its website.

Mr Toube, a corporate lawyer, described his experiences on a blog.

"I arrived at the pool to discover that they were holding what staff described to me as "Muslim men only swimming"," he wrote.

"I asked whether my son and I could go as we were both male. I was told that the session was for Muslims only and that we could not be admitted. I asked what would happen if I turned up and insisted I was Muslim.

"The manager suggested that they might ask the Muslims swimming if they minded my son and I swimming with them. If they didn't object, we might be allowed in."

A few days later, Mr Toube, who lives with his wife, 38-year-old barrister Samantha, and their two sons in Stoke Newington, North London, spoke to another leisure centre employee.

"He gave me an identical story. His explanation was that it was a requirement of the Muslim religion that Muslims could not swim with non-Muslims."

Read the rest of the dhimmifying crazy reality here.

Well, I suppose that "Great Britain" has made a knot on it self once again! Hopefully we will not se this kind of dhimmithude here in Sweden. But with the social democratics allmost ceartainly winning the next election, we probably will!

Peace in motion

Di Leva- is one of Swedens most bizarre artists. I can't but help you to a link with his latest single. Here! The guy is... strange, but he has also squeezed out a couple of good songs. I've met him once and he seemed to be a good enough guy (I'm not shure I would let him baby sit for me though...). Give it a try! When he tried to make an international carrier he sent his new record to a music critic in England with a pair of oranges and a pair of laidies nylon stockings. How can you not love a guy like that?

Sweden shutting door on refugees: critics

Recent decisions by Sweden to send refugees back to Baghdad and other war-ravaged areas have tarnished its reputation for welcoming victims of conflict, critics say.

But Baghdad is as safe as any other midddle east or African city nowdays. So what's the problem?

The Scandinavian country may have taken in more Iraqi refugees than any other western country, but some specialists are worried that the country has begun to harden its line. (My emphasis).

[...]

There is no doubt Sweden has been generous. Last year alone, the Scandinavian country received requests for asylum from 18,559 Iraqis, more than 70 percent of whom were allowed to stay, according to figures from Swedish immigration and United Nations refugee agency UNHCR.

In comparison, the United States last year took in 1,608 Iraqi refugees, according to campaigning group Refugees International.

Why are we "obligated" to accept so many Iraquis? And that's only a small portion of asylum seekers and immigrants from other (mainly muslim)countrys. 18559! Think of Sweden as the state of New York (but with less people to begin with) and you get the proportions. If I have learned right, we accept around 100 000 immigrants every year! I'm not opposed to immigrants- I'm one my self statistically. But there has to be limits! Most of these new immigrants are also not qualified workers or unwilling to assimilate in to the Swedish society. The majority lives on social benifits (E G my taxmoney). Why?

State to use old couple's cash to pay thieves' debts

Published: 17 Apr 08 18:34 CET
Online: http://www.thelocal.se/11182/

It may seem obvious that a robber’s loot be returned to its rightful owner once the crook is apprehended.

But an elderly Swedish couple found out the hard way that rules governing recovered assets aren’t so clear on the matter.

Bertil and Elly Jacobsson were simply trying to do the right thing when a pair of men claiming to need directions and water for their overheated car knocked on the door of their home in the northwestern Swedish county of Jämtland.

“I’ve always tried to be helpful,” Bertil told The Local.

But as soon as the men left a few minutes later, Bertil began to realize something was wrong.

“I got a strange feeling. One of them had gone into the kitchen to get water, and I didn’t have an eye on him the whole time,” he said.

Worried, Bertil went to check a desk drawer where he kept spare cash and found it empty.

A total of 18,000 kronor ($3,000) was missing.

Wanting again to do the right thing, he then called the police.

He and his wife gave officers a detailed description of the men and their car, and soon thereafter police arrested the two men, along with two others, in nearby Härjedalen.

The four men, who were carrying around 20,000 kronor, confessed to their crimes and were later convicted, each receiving a year-long prison sentence.

“Clearly, it was our money,” said Bertil.

But rather than having their 18,000 kronor promptly returned by police, Bertil and Emily instead received some disturbing news from a representative of Sweden’s national debt collection agency, Kronofogden.

“This woman came by out of the blue and said that the thieves had over 200,000 kronor in tax debts and that we wouldn’t be seeing any of our money because it would first go toward paying down those debts,” Bertil explained.

Bertil was surprised to learn that the state would end up getting the confiscated cash.

“Apparently the rules are different when it comes to cash,” he said.

The matter is still being sorted out, but Bertil expects that he and his wife will eventually get their money back one way or another.

“It’s taking quite a long time, but we’re hopeful,” he said.

And what if the authorities ultimately decide to use the Jacobsson’s savings to pay down the crook’s debts?

“That wouldn’t be fair at all,” he said.

David Landes (david.landes@thelocal.se/+46 8 656 6518)

What the heck are they (the authorities/kronofogden) thinking? It's time for another (sorry). GNAAAAARRRRRGGHJ!

Dick Erixon

Sorry- this will have to be in Swedish only!

De cashar ju in sina miljoner ändå!

'Arrests' after Zimbabwe strike

More than 50 Zimbabwean opposition supporters have been arrested after staging a strike, the party says.

Police have accused the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) of trying to incite violence with their strike call, in protest at delayed poll results.

Correspondents say the strike had little impact as 80% of Zimbabweans are without a job.

HEH! or SNIFF?

The Tax Free Day

In USA the tax free day was a couple of days ago. That means that people over the Atlantic now get to earn their money for the rest of the year and put it straight in their pockets (not to mention that average salaries are much higher in the states to begin with. A nurse in USA have approximately the same salary as a Swedish doctor...)

In Sweden the tax free day are in the end of July!

But we have "free" health care- Yeah right! I have learned that the state of New York have more public financed hospitals than the whole of Sweden, and that they have every bit of standard as the Swedish hospitals have (besides the private hospitals- which more or less are forbidden here in Sweden).

Switzerland is a good example to compare with Sweden. They also have public financed hospitals- with every as much resources as Swedish ones. But they have a general tax rate lower than in the USA!

Well- it could be worse. The tax free day under the social dhimmicratic government was in september. Guess what? We did not have any better health care then! Michael Moore; eat your heart out!- Shees...

A Renegade Against Greenpeace

Why he says they're wrong to view nuclear energy as 'evil'

Patrick Moore- One of the cofounders of Greenpeace has had a serious think through regarding for example nuclear energy. What every sensible person has known for decades are now getting through to the very people that was against the energy form that are most sensible. Soon they might even realise that the whole environment energy buissness is a big scam, who have made food prices rize with 37% over the last year, at the same time that France (and that is a capital "F" with reluctance) are promoting for ever more protectionistic agricultural values and protective taxes making it ever harder for farmers in Africa and other third world countrys to make a living! All the while making food more expensive here in the west; and at the same time causing food riots in Africa and other places...

Member states consider perks and staff for new EU president

14.04.2008 - 09:25 CET By Honor Mahony
EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS – EU member states have begun preliminary talks on some of the most political aspects of the bloc's new treaty – the office set-up for the proposed new full-time president, the shape of the diplomatic service and the power-sharing arrangement for the regular ministerial meetings in Brussels.
With the European Commission due to present the first draft of the 2009 budget later this month, EU ambassadors last week discussed a possible salary, number of staff and perks for the EU president – a job created by the new treaty which is supposed to come into force on 1 January next year.

Characterising the talks as "very abstract and very general", an EU diplomat said that there appeared to be general agreement that that the president of the council – whose job description has yet to be defined – will get the same sort of treatment as the president of the European Commission.

This would mean a salary of around €270,000, a chauffeured car, a housing allowance and a personal staff of around 20.

What the EU president will actually do remains unclear. (My emphasis)

Al Gore does Scandinavia

No one can have missed that Climate Chief Alarmist Al Gore received The Nobel Peace Prize last December. But some details might have escaped you...

When arriving in Oslo for the Prize Cermony – Al Gore took the Airport Express Train to town. He made a big fuzz about this in the media. This train ride was to be seen as a Climate Statement.

Well. According to the Norwegian paper Verdens Gang his luggage did not. It was sent by car to his hotel. In a Mercedes van, to be precise. Does this strike anyone as a bit odd?

After the Prize Cermony Gore went to Sweden – to meet with the Cabinet and to address the Parliament. He did not take the train. Nor did he use the Scandinavian Airline Systems frequent shuttle services. He was picked up by the Swedish Governments private jet.

Thus making a huge CO2 footprint. Exactly the thing he wants all other people to refrain from...

But Gore was still to produce Hot Air. Not only in the Swedish Parliament.

From Stockholm he went to Frankfurt. Once again in the Swedish Governments private jet. None of the 17 flights with SAS and Lufthansa on the route that day suited him. So again, he emitted huge amounts of CO2 for no other purpose than his own comfort.

(As the Swedish Government Jet is not allowed to be used as a taxi for anyone, top brass had to join Gore on his trips. PM top advisor Ms Clase took him from Oslo to Stockholm. The Secretary of International Aid, Ms Carlsson, escorted him to Frankfurt, and then flew back minutes later.)

The bill for Gores trip Oslo - Stockholm - Frankfurt was picked up by the Swedish Taxpayers: About 12-15.000 euros.

Al Gore – the guy who wants the rest of us to stop flying, driving and doing all that other stuff that's emitting CO2. Just because he has a (not very good) theory on what is driving climate change.

Words like »hypocarcy« and »expensive« comes to mind.

Lords' report exposes Labour's lies on the 'benefits' of mass immigration

Gordon Brown today rejected heavyweight calls for a cap on immigration, saying workers from abroad were vital to the economy.

He dismissed a major report that attacked Government claims that migrants boost the economy, saying they were as important as foreign investment in the City.

“Most people in London know we benefit substantially, not just from inward investment, but from the number of workers who come in to join them,” Mr Brown said.

He spoke out after a study by senior peers, including two exchancellors, concluded that Government claims of a £6 billion boost to national earnings from immigration were misleading.

The devastating cross-party report went on to:

•Dismiss Ministers' "preposterous" assertion that migrants boost the economy by £6billion a year;

•Reject Government claims that foreigners will help to defuse the pensions timebomb;

•Demolish the "fundamentally flawed" Downing Street argument that migrants fill vacancies in the economy;

•And warn that migrants will force up house prices by 10 per cent in the next two decades.

Immigration minister Liam Byrne has also waded into the row this morning by claiming the inquiry put forward many of the points he had made when he was first appointed in 2006.

"The report actually confirms that about £6billion was added to the economy in 2006, that is a big number," he told GMTV.

"What it is also saying, though, I think, is that we should be taking into account the wider impact of immigration when we set immigration policy - now I think that is absolutely right."

His remarks came as the report, by the Lords economic affairs committee, which includes former Chancellors Nigel Lawson and Norman Lamont, economists and captains of industry, said immigration had had "little or no positive impact" on the living standards of the existing population.

[...]

In fact, the big winners were the migrants themselves who earn higher wages than in their homeland and can also send money home.

Some British workers were even seeing their incomes fall, while up to 100,000 youngsters have been unable to find work.

And, by pushing up house prices, migrants will keep young families off the housing ladder, the committee found.

With migration swelling the population by 190,000 every year, Labour has been keen to stress the economic benefits, not least over pensions.

But the peers said the argument did not "hold up to scrutiny" because the migrants will grow old and claim pensions of their own.

[...]

Lord Wakeham, the Conservative former Cabinet Minister, was chairman of the inquiry.

He said: "The Government's use of impact on overall GDP as the key measure is preposterous and irrelevant because it does not reflect the economic well-being of the existing population."

The committee said: "There has been little or no positive impact on the living standards of the existing population."

Asked if the economic policies pursued by Labour over the last decade had been a mistake, Lord Wakeham replied: "We have made it abundantly clear we do not believe there has been any great economic benefit from the policy it has pursued."

[...]

Ministers have accepted migrants are placing pressure on schools and hospitals, but have balanced this against the so-called "huge" economic benefits.

Now they will be forced to accept the social harm from migration, with little or nothing to fall back upon.

David Coleman, an Oxford University academic, says the wider costs of immigration are almost £8.8billion a year.

Professor Coleman said that the costs to the public sector are £1.5billion to run the asylum system, £280million to teach English to migrants and at least £330million to treat illnesses such as HIV.

Read it all.

The immigration scam is one of the biggest in history. It's nothing more than an elaborate sceeme for vote fishing, because the multi- culti advocates are on the left hand side on the political scale- and they know- that virtually every new immigrant is a possible vote for them selfs. By all means. Let people come here (and there), but then let them be highly skilled workers- not the riff-raff we are letting in right now! Let people come here on temporary 1- year workers visas. If they get a job during that time, they should be wellcomed to stay. But if not- they should have to pay for their return ticket...

Cartoon Rage- Again

A school in Nijmegen yesterday cancelled a cartoon exhibition about discrimination following threats by Muslim pupils. Before this decision was taken, the exhibition was already literally destroyed.

Muslim pupils of the ROC Nijmegen, a large school with largely immigrant pupils, pulled cartoons from the walls shortly before these were to be presented officially. They also threatened to set the school alight. The school management decided to call off the opening.

In the exhibition, artists expressed their vision on discrimination in a humorist manner. "My expectation was that the pupils would be able to laugh about it", Ralph Sluis stated. He heads a local anti discrimination organisation. Sluis was the exhibition's coordinator.

A total of fifteen cartoonists worked on the exhibition. According to Sluis, the trouble was sparked by a work by cartoonist Peter de Wit, which shows two women in niqabs, the all-covering Islamic garments.

In the cartoon, one niqabed woman tells the other: "You filthy Muslim". The other one replies: "Yes I know, I'll wash". This woman smells bad, the cartoon shows.

The cartoon's message is that someone is not filthy if they wear a niqab. "A small group of pupils interpreted the cartoons in an entirely different way than the artist intended", Sluis stated.

So the religion of peace and tolerance is at it again! This kind of behaviour is excactly why the exhibition should be done!

Parlamentariska Grundlagsutredningen

Geert Wilders Is No Right-Wing Populist

Dutch politician Geert Wilders may be many things, but he is not the right-wing populist he is accused of being. What the debate over his film "Fitna" reveals most clearly is the West's cowardice toward Islam.

There's a key for every lock, just as there's a perfectly fitting label for everyone who refuses to fit in. At the moment, the term "right-wing populist" is hot. Everyone and his brother is calling Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders by that name at the moment, but hardly any commentators or reporters have taken the time to explain what a "right-wing populist" actually is. And what distinguishes it from other political standpoints like, for instance, "left-wing populists."

Geert Wilders may be many things -- he is self-confident to the point of vanity and stubborn to the point of sacrificing himself. But he's not a right-wing populist.

For one thing, he's a radical liberal. For another, what he's doing at the moment is extremely unpopular. Six years ago, Pim Fortuyn, who was murdered by an animal rights fanatic, was also called a "right-wing populist." He was indeed very popular -- not because he was "right-wing" but because he insisted on drawing attention to things that the traditional elites of Dutch society had steadfastly ignored.

And here is the key note so indescribebly overseen by the left (and the right). You do not have to be a extreme rightist (which of course is not far away from a extreme left winger) to be a critic to immigration policies. The extreme left is every bit as protectionistic as the extreme right- they just call it by different names. On the one hand: We don't let thhem in to our societys by not letting them get over the borders, and on the other hand- We don't let them to get in to our societys by closing them out in the name of multiculturalism/integration...

Wilders is indeed a radical liberal!
