Swedish MPs want to limit press freedom
Swedish politicians favour tough restrictions on press freedom, according to a new survey. A majority of Swedish members of parliament want to forbid 'sexist' advertising, force newspapers to gain permission when they publish photos of celebrities and to ban the publication the names of suspects in criminal trials.

Sorry- but now I do not understand. Do you really mean that celebrities should have special status?
Forgive me if I have missunderstood you. But does not celebrity sort of forfit your right to privacy?
Shure- there are cases where you should not be pestered by vultures. But at the same time, they are the ones making it happen! They are the ones keeping the bred money coming in. Because- which celebrity would still be a celebrity without the puplicity. And ask any "No- show" actor if she or he would not like it...
There are nuances to everything!

Well, I think of the Hollywood crowd.
First of all, I support Freedom of the Press as a matter of principle.
Second, I support it because some of those guys really bother the Hollywood crowd.
Third, I support it because those commie politicians are against it.
And, yes, celebrities do become somewhat public, although they do retain some right to privacy, as well. Those photos in the tabloids that they complain about help keep the paychecks rolling in to celebrities by keeping them on everyone's mind. Who are they trying to fool?
I didn't know there were any freedoms remaining in Sweden for the political elites to take away.... ;)
